Old Norwegian Cast-On/Twisted German Cast-On

    OLD NORWEGIAN CAST-ON/GERMAN Twisted CAST-ON

Sandy has started her Selbu Cowl KAL this week and it features an interesting cast-on technique.

The Old Norwegian cast-on also known as the German Twisted is a stretchier variation of the long tail method. By adding an extra twist while casting on, this method gives a little more stretch to your edging. It is also a deeper cast on making it more durable. It works well for socks, mittens, and other ribbing that will get a lot of wear and tear. It’s a good all purpose cast-on, but works especially well for socks, mittens and glove cuffs.

    Difficulty: 3 of 5

Bind Off Match: Icelandic Bind Off

This cast-on can be a little tricky but produces a beautiful double twisted edge. Check out the video from Very Pink Knits and try your hand at this cool technique!
